Ephesians 1:4-5

according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

A Welcome from pastor Byron:

Welcome! We are humbled that you stopped by to visit with us, as always we hope that this visit would turn into a stay if it be Gods will. I would like for you to know that if you're searching for a spiritual family where you can connect, grow, and flourish and you are in this region, we believe that DOCJ SM is the place for you! We are part of a church that believes that everyone has something to offer. No thing is too big or small (1st Corinthians 12).

The Lord God gave his life for us so that we can be a part of his family, when I truly stop to think about this it amazes me! As the above scripture states, God in his foreknowledge thought of us and chose us before he ever created the world, which means before he ever created us, he was that thoughtful of us. Not only did he choose us, but he chose us in him, in other words God wanted us to be in relationship with him. This happens by being a part of his body, the scripture calls Jesus the head of the church, and the church is known as Gods body (Ephesians 5:23). As you have a head and body that is obviously connected, so it is with Christ and his church. The only way to be spiritually alive in the Lord is through his Church. We believe as necessary as it is for our head to be connected to our bodies for life's sake, so it is for disciples of Jesus to be connected to the body of Christ (the church) for spiritual life. While Christ sacrifice on the cross connects him with all sinners (John 3:16/Isaiah 52/53), his body is the only source that he is currently connected to in the earth that he will return for. Being a part of his body connects us with other brothers and sisters that are of like precious faith. We believe this is very important to our Christian lives.

The scripture goes on to say that the Lord adopted us! Wow! When I think about that an adopted child doesn't really asked to be adopted, instead he/she is chosen by a compassionate adult. So it is that we were in need that the God of compassion adopted us, when we were no longer his due to sin, he saw us in need of a savior and adopted us. And it was all according to the pleasure of his good will. It is Gods will that we become a part of his body and receive our adoption when we believe the gospel of Jesus and become born again of the water and Spirit (John 3:3-5).

Whatever level you are on spiritually we welcome you here! Here at Disciples of Christ Jesus, we want you to know there is a special place just for you. We'd love to see you soon!
